Delonghi Dehumidifier Reviews and Best Models
Delonghi Logo

Delonghi dehumidifiers are a popular option in the UK. The company's models are often mid-range with good extraction rates and provide great value for money.

There isn't a Delonghi model on our list of the top 10 dehumidifiers, but that doesn't mean they don't produce some excellent machines. Listed below are the four best Delonghi dehumidifiers at the time of writing. These machines all provide great value for money and have been highly rated by buyers. The recently reviewed Delonghi DDS25 is also an excellent model.

Which are the Best Delonghi Dehumidifiers?

Delonghi DEX14

Delonghi DEX14

The DEX14 is one of Delonghi's most popular dehumidifiers. It's a mid-range refrigerant model that's designed for small homes, making it a good choice for people with two or three bedrooms.

With a capacity of 14 litres per day, the DEX14 is a step-up from the Delonghi DEX12. It can quickly remove water from mild environments, so it's an excellent choice for heated rooms, although it struggles as the temperature drops.

The DEX14 is relatively light at just 9kg. This makes it suitable for moving around your home (for comparison, some refrigerant models weigh more than 15kg). The small 2.3 litre water tank could be an issue, although it comes with a continuous drainage option if you're willing to use a hose. It's also relatively energy efficient and easy to use.

One of the big selling points of the DEX14 is the quiet operation. With a noise output of 37dB, it's one of the quietest dehumidifiers on the market.

A downside to the DEX14 is that it's not on wheels. There's a carry handle integrated into the machine, but castors would have been a useful feature. It's also not great at removing water from cooler rooms - we certainly wouldn't recommend it for garages or unheated interiors.

The Delonghi DEX14 didn't make our list of the best dehumidifiers, but it's not a bad option if you need a mid-range model for a small home. It's lightweight (for a refrigerant model) and easy to move, although be aware of the small capacity and poor performance in cooler temperatures. It's also one of the best Delonghi dehumidifiers on the market.

Pros

  • Quiet and relatively lightweight for a refrigerant dehumidifier
  • Reasonably fast water extraction

Cons

  • Small 2.3L water tank
  • Ineffective in cold weather

Specification

  • Type: Refrigerant
  • Noise: 37dB
  • Tank: 2.3 litres
  • Power: 219W
  • Max Extraction: 14 litres/day
  • Price: ££ - Mid-Range

Delonghi DNC65

Delonghi DNC65

The DNC65 - or the Delonghi Tasciugo AriaDry Light DNC65 to give its full name - is probably the best Delonghi dehumidifier on the market at the moment. It's a desiccant machine, meaning it works best in lower temperatures. It's also highly efficient at removing moisture from the air.

In ideal conditions, the DNC65 is capable of extracting 18 litres per day from the air. This is relatively high, so it's suitable dehumidifying areas up to 75 cubic metres.

Like most desiccant dehumidifies, it's lightweight at just 6kg. This makes it easy to move around the home. Its 2 litre tank capacity is quite small for a machine that's built for dehumidifying large areas, although there is an optional continuous drainage system. If you're going to use it to dry clothes, however, then it might be frustrating to need to empty it regularly.

Other features include a clothes drying function, ioniser and two fan speeds. It's also a quiet dehumidifier, with a maximum noise level of 44dB. On its lowest setting the noise drops to 34dB.

We think the Delonghi DNC65 is an excellent dehumidifier. It's quick to remove moisture from the air - even in cold conditions. It's also easy to use and quiet on its lowest setting. While its around double the price of the DEC10, it's a much better option for dehumidifying larger rooms or in cooler environments.

Pros

  • Excellent water extraction rate in cool conditions
  • Lightweight design
  • Quiet on its low setting

Cons

  • Small water tank
  • Could be more energy efficient

Specification

  • Type: Desiccant
  • Noise: 44dB
  • Tank: 2 litres
  • Power: 520W
  • Max Extraction: 18 litres/day
  • Price: ££ - Mid-Range

Delonghi DEX16

Delonghi DEX16

Another popular Delonghi refrigerant dehumidifier is the DEX16. This machine is capable of extracting up to 16 litres per day in ideal conditions. It's also portable considering the high extraction rate, with a built-in carry handle and (relatively) lightweight 9kg design.

As part of Delonghi's Tasciugo AriaDry range, the DEX16 has the same low noise output (37dB) as the other DEX models on this list. It also has a clothes drying function, which is useful for quickly drying laundry indoors, and an air filtration system.

The DEX16 has a built-in humidistat. This monitors air conditions and tries to maintain a target humidity, which can be set to 40%, 50% or 60%. Surprisingly, there's only a single fan mode, which is a shame considering the high price.

As with the other DEX models on this list, the DEX16 doesn't have wheels. It's relatively lightweight and has an integrated handle, however, so it's easy to move around the home. A bigger omission is a timer function. If you don't want to use the automatic monitoring mode, you'll need to switch it off manually.

Another drawback is that it's not great at extracting water in cooling conditions. This is to be expected from a refrigerant model, but don't buy the DEX16 for a garage or unheated room.

Even so, the Delonghi DEX16 is excellent at quickly removing water at room temperature and above. It's also energy efficient and easy to use. If you need a 16L dehumidifier for heated rooms, it's an option to consider.

Pros

  • Built-in humidistat
  • Excellent extraction rates at room temperature
  • Laundry drying mode

Cons

  • Expensive
  • No timer and only one fan mode

Specification

  • Type: Refrigerant
  • Noise: 37dB
  • Tank: 2.1 litres
  • Power: 210W
  • Max Extraction: 16 litres/day
  • Price: £££ - Premium

Delonghi DEX12

Delonghi DEX12

The Delonghi DEX12 dehumidifier is a refrigerant model with a capacity of 12 litres per day. It's part of the AriaDry range, which is designed to improve energy efficiency. The model is also one of the newest dehumidifiers in the Delonghi range.

Like most Delonghi dehumidifiers, the DEX12 has a relatively small water tank. It's able to hold up to 2.1 litres of water, so you'll need to empty it regularly if used in a damp environment. There is a full-tank indicator to quickly see when it needs to be emptied.

One of the great things about the DEX12 is that it's highly energy efficient. This means it isn't as expensive to run - a vital consideration if you plan to use the dehumidifier for extended periods. It's also an easy-to-use machine with a convenient carrying handle.

Other features include a continuous drainage option, relatively lightweight design for a refrigerant and a frost control function. It doesn't come with wheels, which is a shame, but the handle makes it simple to move between rooms. You should also be aware that it's much more efficient in warmer environments than cool.

The Delonghi DEX12 dehumidifier is an excellent choice if you're looking for an energy-efficient model. It's also effective at removing moisture from the air in warmer conditions, although it isn't suitable for garages or other unheated areas.

Pros

  • Energy efficient to save money on electricity bills
  • Easy to use and stylish design

Cons

  • No wheels
  • Small water tank
  • Ineffective in cold weather

Specification

  • Type: Refrigerant
  • Noise: 37dB
  • Tank: 2.1 litres
  • Power: 210W
  • Max Extraction: 12 litres/day
  • Price: ££ - Mid-Range

Summary

Delonghi produce some excellent dehumidifiers for very reasonable prices. The company offers a range of models, including desiccant and refrigerant options. While we think their machines are often let down by small water tanks, in many cases this is a trade-off for improved portability.

We think the best Delonghi dehumidifier is the DNC65. This is a relatively high capacity model that provides great value for money. It's also lightweight and quiet due to its desiccant technology. If you're looking for a portable dehumidifier with a high capacity and quiet operation, it's a great option.
